I actually fell in love with her sound after she released the Video for boogie down ft wizkid, the song which actually took Nigerians by storm and also enjoyed massive airplay brought the energetic singer to limelight.

Seun Oni, singer-songwriter with the stage name “Saeon” began singing at the age of four and went professional in 2009. Extremely versatile in her style of music as she gets inspiration from every and anything, mostly, alternative R’n’B, Rock, Pop and a little bit of rap.

She grew up listening to the likes of Mariah Carey, Brandy, Cheryl Crowe, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston… Contemporary artistes that influence me include Neyo, Usher, Craig David, Keri Hilson, Kelly Clarkson, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj etc.

Saeon was the first ever winner of “The Underground” which show cases up coming artistes, and through this opportunity, she has made a name for her self by releasing a few singles including the popular Recover From You ft Falz, I’ll Be Gone… She featured on a track “Foreigner” with one of Nigeria’s newest Rap artists, Blackmagic, where she showed her diversity in delivery by spitting 8 bars on it. She later put out “My Man”, which has a ‘Jamo’ feel to it, further giving her fans a different feel to her music.

Saeon has worked with producers like Jrs, David Evans, Studio Magic, Ikon, Ibk, Gospel, Sazzy, etc. In total, she has a little over fifty song writing credits.

Recently she has decided to hit the growing population of Nigerian music lovers and her fans worldwide with what she called the limited edition in a recent tweet on her timeline. the new single which features industry new breed Ycee is titled (DE BE.mp3). After listening to the song over and over again, i guarantee Nigerians that it is a classical way of delivering commercial lyrical content on a jahbwai produced instrumental.

Saeon happens to be our take from the female category of Nigerian singers as our female artiste of the week, we urge you the reader to comment on our choice and tell us why she is worth this week’s spot or why it should have been somebody else. You can also nominate your favourite female act for next week on twitter.
